Seven days, one single passion
Seven are the days that our land sings to the rhythm of a saeta. Seven are the days that we are moved by passion; seven are the places where the heart of every member of Malaga’s confraternity lies; seven are the details that will make you feel part of our tradition; seven are the dishes to savour during Holy Week, and seven are the moments that will remain in your memory forever.
Palm Sunday
A day when Malaga celebrates traditions, emotion, and joy. The aromas of torrijas and the fragrance of palm branches invade the streets of the historic centre. The procession of the Pollinica in Parras street welcomes Holy Week to the city.
Holy Monday
Incense and the scent of traditional pestiños drift through the air as the Nazarenes and confraternities prepare their thrones for the processions, displaying the incredible work of renowned goldsmiths. One of the most exciting moments of Holy Monday takes place at the Puente de la Aurora, where the cornets and drums will fill you with emotion as they pass by.
Holy Tuesday
The streets are filled with colour and music, creating a magical and unforgettable atmosphere in Malaga’s historic centre. The Nazarenes’ costumes as they parade through the streets of Malaga. A day to admire the meticulous attention to detail of the confraternities in Las Penas.
Holy Wednesday
Enjoy the delicious traditional doughnuts while observing one of the most impressive aspects of Holy Week in Málaga: the traditional release of the prisoner, a moment full of emotion that takes place in the Plaza de la Constitución.
Maundy Thursday
The candles will almost have melted, one of Holy Week’s most beautiful scenes. You can enjoy some traditional cod cakes while you admire the confraternities’ Station of Penitence. One of the most exciting moments of the night is the appearance of Mena and the Legionaries of Christ as they march through the streets of Malaga.
Good Friday
An act that will move every bystander is the sight of the Virgin Mary and her rose-scented mantle that parades the streets, mourning in silence. Good Friday is characterised by an atmosphere of contemplation and spirituality that will make you feel part of our Holy Week. It is also a day to savour a traditional Vigilia stew and immerse yourself in the local culinary culture.
Holy Saturday
Filled with passion and the sweet aroma of traditional buñuelos in the air, the streets of Malaga gather mournful melodies that surrounds the Virgin in her tomb at the Teatro Romano. Holy Saturday is a time for contemplation and reflection, an ideal time to unwind from one’s daily routine and connect with spirituality.
Resurrection Sunday
The end has come with a new awakening, Resurrection Sunday. The streets are filled with the aroma of Cártama’s hornazos, which the little Nazarenes savour before the start of the last of these special days. The musical bands fill the streets with the sound of cornets, drums and joyful melodies. The Resurrected Christ on its way through Larios Street is one of the most exciting and awaited moments of the entire Holy Week, in which the whole city gathers to celebrate life.
Palacio Solecio’s exceptional location will allow you to experience the feeling of the Confraternities up close and enjoy this work of art as it walks through the streets of Malaga. Seven will be the number with which you will live, feel and remember this Holy Week as one more local in Palacio Solecio.
